The meeting and election start at 7 p.m. The polls close at 9 p.m. In response to the large increase anticipated in school taxes, the Library board has decided not to raise the Library’s budget for fiscal 2013-2014 so no budget vote will be necessary. Celie Cook, who serves as the board secretary, will be seeking her second 5-year term of office. Michael Heller will conduct the meeting and Irene Scaturro, Marlboro Central School District Clerk, will preside over the election with assistance from election teller, Ashley Poulin.

Kids reading on their own through grade 12, and parents reading to their babies and toddlers can register at the library beginning June 10th and pick up a reading log and summer reading pencil and bookmark. Then, set a reading goal for the summer and sign the summer reading pledge. Hand in your reading record at the Library by August 5th and celebrate your accomplishments with fellow readers on Wednesday August 7th at 2:00pm with cake and refreshments. You will receive award certificates and a small prize.

This year, the Marlboro Library will take the American Libraries Association’s theme of “Communities Matter” to heart.
SUGGESTIONS? IDEAS? During the week of April 15th-19th, the Library will ask residents for their suggestions and input on how they can better serve you, the community. Stop by the Library all week to drop a note in the suggestion box.
LIBRARY CARD AMNESTY! Take this time to renew your lost card, as the Library will be waiving the $5 fee for lost cards this week, just bring a donation of canned food, to be donated to the Saint Mary’s Food Pantry.
WIN A BOOK! Visit the Library’s Local History Blog at marlborolocalhistory.wordpress.com. If you have never visited the blog, now is the time! There are many great historical photos taken in and around the town of Marlborough. Leave a comment or observation on the blog and be entered in a raffle to win a copy of the “Images of America: Marlborough” book.
OTHER EVENTS:
On Wednesday afternoon, April 17th, be on the lookout for our roving team as they will be handing out prizes to residents found reading around town!
On Tuesday, April 16th and Thursday, April 18th visit the Library to test drive Lynda.com (online learning company that helps anyone learn software, technology, creative and business skills to achieve their personal and professional goals) and get a prize.
On Monday, April 15th, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Friday, April 19th, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Director Jim Cosgrove will host a Job Lab Preview and will set-up and demonstrate the laptop lab (coming in May) in the community room. The lab has been purchased so patrons can have a quiet place to access Internet computers for online job seeking and use in related classes.
