Curbside Service Now Available!
Our temporary curbside hours:
Due to urgent roof replacement, curbside service may be briefly interrupted. Please call the Library at 845-236-7272 or check back here for updates. Before picking up items, patrons must call ahead. Please comply with any posted safety measures while visiting the Library. Face coverings must be worn on Library property, including item pick-up location. We want all our patrons to be safe!
If you cannot wear a mask for medical reasons, please contact the Library for accommodations. This must be done in advance of your visit.
Curbside Pick-Up: How it Works!
Patrons may place a hold on items in our building or any Mid-Hudson Library using our online catalog or over the phone starting June 23. If you place a hold for an item checked in at our Library, you will most likely be able to pick it up that same day. Need help placing a hold? Give us a call at 845-236-7272. Please note: patrons are limited to 10 holds.
Once you receive notification that your item is ready, call ahead to arrange a pick up time.
Near the side entrance, look for a bag with your name printed on it to retrieve your hold. Be advised: Face coverings must be worn while on Library property, including when picking up items from the curbside location.
When you are finished with any items, please return them in our book drop. To ensure both our staff and community’s safety, and based on recommendations from the Mid-Hudson Library System, we will be quarantining all returns for 72 hours. You may notice a delay between the time you drop off an item and the time it comes off your account.
Please note: the Library is not accepting book donations at this time. As we are expecting a heavy volume of returns, please do not put book donations in our drop box.
Updates on Getting a Library Card
During COVID-19, the Marlboro Free Library will temporarily allow residents of the Marlboro Central School District to apply for a physical Library card remotely. Residents may register for a digital Library card by filling out an application here. When you apply for a digital Library card, you will receive a 7-digit number that will allow you to access our e-book collection and select resources through the Mid-Hudson Library System.
Residents who wish to receive a physical Library card, which will grant full access to our collection and online resources, must fax, mail, email, or place a copy of their photo ID and proof of address in our book drop, after filling out a digital Library card application online. Information may be faxed to the Library at 845-236-7635 or can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. After an application is validated, residents will receive their cards in the mail or will be available for pick-up, and will be ready for use.
Please note: all copies of photo ID and proof of address will be shredded upon validation. The Marlboro Free Library will not hold onto copies of this information.
Children’s Programs and Services
We have a full virtual programming schedule for kids this summer! Be sure to check back regularly as we update our schedule and for last minute special events this summer.
Starting with curbside pick-up, book bundles for children will be available! We know that half the fun of picking out children’s picture books is browsing and choosing ones with beautiful colors. Since it’s tough to do online, you can either choose from pre-selected themes or have our Children’s Librarian, Ms. Taylor customize a bundle for you based on your child’s interests. Themed bundles include: Dinosaurs & Dragons; Princesses, Unicorns & Other Sparkly Things; Trucks, Cars & Things That Go; Pets; Sweet & Sentimental; and Ms. Taylor’s Favorites. Call the Library or email email@example.com to choose your picks!
Find Your Next Read with Us!
Wondering what your next read should be? While browsing our shelves is temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, take our brief survey below to receive personalized reading recommendations created by our staff, which will be available for curbside pick-up.

Roof Replacement Project
Recently the Marlboro Free Library was awarded a New York State Aid for Libraries Construction Grant of $108,377 to replace its failing roof. After years of patching up leaks, the Library sought quotes for the replacement of the roof after determining it had reached its estimated end-of-life. The new roof will eliminate these leaks in addition to being more energy efficient. During the construction period, the Library building will be closed, but staff will continue to provide curbside service. Check www.marlborolibrary.org or call the Library at 236-7272 for further updates.
