Expansion & Renovation Project- Construction begins August 2025

Modern spaces. Meaningful services. A stronger future.

A great library grows with its community.

We’re thrilled to share that the Marlboro Free Library will begin its long-anticipated expansion and renovation project this August. This project will allow us to enhance our space, modernize our facilities, and create a more welcoming, flexible environment for everyone in our community.

Why now?

The Marlboro Free Library has not seen a major renovation since 1987! Since that time, so much has changed:

  • In just the past five years, program attendance has grown by 45%.
  • Demand for programs regularly exceeds the space available, forcing us to turn away patrons and event requests.
  • Our infrastructure, including our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, is nearly 40 years old, and is approaching end-of-life.
  • Community needs have evolved, with growing demand for modern technology, study and meeting space, privacy for services, and more.
  • Over the years, the Marlboro Free Library has gathered community feedback and the Board of Trustees has spent decades planning. Now, with a combination of state grants, local support, and long-term planning, the Library is finally able to expand and renovate.
