For children this summer from the Marlboro Library:
How summer reading works: Starting July 1, print out a reading chart here or pick one up at the Library. Color in a circle on your chart for each day you read for at least 20 minutes, OR for each program you attend. Email a photo of your completed (or semi-completed) chart to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 28 and win a small prize. Those who fill in each circle on their chart will be entered to win a grand prize. Happy reading!
All programs will be hosted virtually. Please register on our online calendar and you will be emailed a secure link to join.

Virtual Yoga for Kids (for ages 8-11) Four Wednesdays in July at 3:30 p.m. (7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29) Join certified yoga instructor, Liz, for virtual yoga! We’ll move our body to explore fun shapes, play games, and learn healthy ways to cope with daily stressors. Each class will end with a Guided Visualization, teaching kids to learn to settle their minds and bodies while increasing imagination!
Graphic Novel Book Club (for ages 8-11) Four Mondays in July & August at 11:30 a.m. (7/13, 7/27, 8/10, 8/24) Join us on Zoom to discuss two graphic novels this summer! On 7/13 and 7/27, we’ll discuss New Kid by Jerry Craft and on 8/10 and 8/24 we’ll discuss Sheets by Brenna Thummler. Both books are available digitally on Hoopla, or as hard copies at the library.
Jester Jim (all ages) Tune in on July 7 at 4 p.m. to watch Jester Jim live! This combination juggling/comedy show will have you glued to Jester Jim’s every sound from beginning to end. He’ll make sure to keep you laughing long after the show ends with his catchy improvised beatbox songs.
The Sciencetellers (ages 5-10) These virtual performances combine science and storytelling to provide an exciting and educational experience for kids!
After the premiere dates, the videos will be available to view all summer long. This program is made possible through partnership with the Ulster Country Library Association.
The Page Turner Adventures (ages 5-10) Page Turner Adventures combines circus, story, and larger-than-life props in a mad alchemy of storytelling and imagination. They transform children into Storyologists and send them on comic quests to read, tell, and write their own stories.
On the premiere dates, videos will be posted on a password protected website. Register online to receive the website and password information to tune in either on the premiere dates, or at any time afterwards throughout the summer. This program is made possible through partnership with the Ulster County Library Association.
Ulster County Summer Reading Program
Looking for more activities to do this summer? The virtual nature of this summer’s programs has given Ulster County Libraries the opportunity to pool our programming skills to partner with Mohonk Preserve, Woodland Playhouse, the Ashokan Center, Opus40 and DRAW Kingston to create a website dedicated to keeping our communities engaged in educational activities all summer long. In addition to activity suggestions and learning challenges, the Ulster County Libraries Summer Reading website also contains additional reading challenge bingo charts for kids, teens, and adults for their own personal use.

Book Bundles for Children
Starting with curbside pick-up, book bundles for children will be available! We know that half the fun of picking out children’s picture books is browsing and choosing ones with beautiful colors. Since it’s tough to do online, you can either choose from pre-selected themes or have our Children’s Librarian, Ms. Taylor customize a bundle for you based on your child’s interests.
Themed bundles include: Dinosaurs & Dragons, Princesses, Unicorns & Other Sparkly Things; Trucks, Cars & Things That Go; Pets; Sweet & Sentimental; and Ms. Taylor’s Favorites.
Call the Library at 845-236-7272 or email email@example.com to choose your picks!
